Answers (Integer Addition)
Question 1
Brackets notation for -3 + 5 - 10 is (-3) + (+5) + (-10).
Note that the integers, (-3), (+5), and (-10) are added. Addition is one way to interpret the '-3' and '-10' parts. In the section on integer subtraction, we will interpret such parts in a subtraction way.
Question 2

The expression, -10 + 3 - 5 - 3 + 2, works out to: -13.

The interpretation is addition of integers: (-10) + (+3) + (-5) + (-3) + (+2)

Question 3

One way to use temperature is to think of 3 - 10 in the following way.

The temperature in the morning was +3 degrees. During the day it dropped 10 degrees. Now the temperature is -7 degrees because dropping 10 degrees from +3 moves the temperature marker to -7 on the thermometer. Adding a temperature change of -10 to the starting temperature of +3 results in a temperature of -7.
