You can drop by anytime to talk with me. If you want to make sure that I am there when you are, make an appointment at class time or by phone. (It's not necessary, but it may save you time.) I am most likely to be around my office before and after class time; after class is better than just before, since I am sometimes doing preparation stuff just before class. You can also check the general physics office 3L00 for my location as well.

Topics:
This is a basic outline of things to be covered, although their order may change during the year.

2.  The Fundamental Forces and Particles—How the very small is connected to the very big.
3.  The Fundamental Structures—Nuclei and atoms.
4.  Stages of the Early Universe—Everything we know about how the universe began.
5.  Global Organization—Organization of the universe on the largest scales.
6.  Micro-organization—Organization of the universe on the smallest scales.
7.  Rules of Existence—Obey the laws of thermodynamics...or else!
8.  Life—The structure of carbon- and silicon-based life, and the search for extra-terrestrial beings.
